Best of Kenya (12 nights & 13 days): Tsavo - Amboseli - Lake Nakuru National Park - Masai Mara

  • Pickup and drop-off: We will receive you at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and will drop you back at JKIA on the last day of the trip.

    Vehicle: We advise you to go with 4x4 Land Cruisers as they are best suited for off-road driving in all the national parks.

    Price: Our package price will include vehicle, driver, gas, Masai guide, food, non-alcoholic drinks, activities, and stay.

    Park Entry Fees: Depending on the parks you plan to visit, we will share the park entry fees, to help you with the travel budget. You can either pay it to us and we can take care of the payment to Kenya Wildlife service (KWS) to expedite your entry into the park or you can pay it yourself while entering the park.

    Best of Kenya (12 nights & 13 days): Tsavo - Amboseli - Lake Nakuru National Park - Masai Mara

    Day 1 – Land in Nairobi and overnight at a hotel in Nairobi of your choice. We advise you on options as per your budget.

    Day 2 - Drive from Nairobi to Man Eaters for overnight stay. Check out the famous Train station which was the cornerstone of the all time classic movie – Ghost and the Darkness.

    Day 3 – Check out from Man Eaters Lodge after breakfast and drive to Voi gate of Tsavo East with a small game drive en-route before checking in at Sentrim Camp at Tsavo. After Lunch go for an afternoon game drive, coming back for dinner.

    Day 4 – Early morning game drive, coming back for lunch at Sentrim, followed by afternoon game drive. In the game drive you will see the world famous “red elephants” of Tsavo along with other exotic animals like Grants Gazelle and Giraffe Gazelle.

    Day 5 - Leave Tsavo East for Amboseli through Tsavo West with game drive en-route and picnic lunch, arriving at Kibo Camp in Amboseli. Kibo Camp is located at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in the African continent.

    Day 6 – Wake up in Kibo camp and bring in the beauty of Kilimanjaro from your front porch while sipping fresh coffee. After breakfast leave for morning game drive to check out the famous tuskers of Ambo. Come back to the camp for hot lunch, rest or take a dip in the beautiful swimming pool. Leave for an afternoon game drive to bring in the sunset inside Ambo, heading back to Kibo for dinner. You might get lucky and watch the Masai dance around the bonfire.

    Day 7 - Leave Kibo for Lake Nakuru National Park, stopping at Lake Naivasha for boat drive and continue to Lake Nakuru National Park Lodge inside the Park. On the Way you will drive through the breath taking Great African Rift Valley.

    Day 8 – After breakfast leave for morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, the only park where you have an opportunity to see black and white rhinos. Enjoy bush lunch inside the Park before leaving for your final magical destination – MASAI MARA, arriving at Mara Duma Bush Camp at around 7 PM. 

    Day 9 – Morning game drive coming back to Mara Duma for hot lunch and heading back in the afternoon, returning around sunset for dinner around a bonfire. Track down lions, cheetahs, leopards (if you are lucky), giraffes, elephants, rhinos (if you are lucky), over 500 species of birds, etc. with the help of seasoned Masai guides.

    Day 10 – Morning game drive coming back to Mara Duma for hot lunch and heading back for game drive in the afternoon, returning around sunset for dinner. Today check out the amazing Mara river, Double Cross, etc.

     

    Day 11 - Full day game drive in Masai Mara, with bush breakfast on the banks of Sand River, packed lunch at Look-Out Point, overlooking Tanzania. returning around sunset for sundowner followed by African night with Masai warriors around the bonfire. Today enjoy Sand River, the border of Kenya & Tanzania, separating Masai Mara from Serengeti.

    Day 12 - Morning game drive coming back to Mara Duma for hot lunch and heading back in the afternoon, returning around sunset for sundowner followed by African night with Masai warriors around the bonfire.

    Day 13 – Time to say goodbye! After early morning breakfast head back to Nairobi, arriving at Nairobi airport. You have the option of driving back or flying back.

Best times to visit Kenya

The best wildlife viewing time depends on what you intend to achieve. Truth is you can see wildlife throughout the year. 

If you want to witness the “great migration”, months from July to the end of September are recommended. This is the time of “great migration” when millions of wildebeests, also known as Gnus, migrate into Masai Mara and cross the Mara river in herds – a spectacle to behold. If you have patience and get lucky you can see crocodiles taking down the gnus when they cross the Mara river. However this is when the entire world descends on Kenya, please expect hundreds of vehicles converging when there is a wildlife sighting.

Next best time is mid-December to the end of April. During mid- December to the end of April is generally quieter with less tourists. This allows you to spend solo time with the wildlife of your choice and take great photos and videos. Being a wildlife photographer, this is my favorite time to be in Mara.
